I was incredibly fortunate to be part of the team creating Tiamat. I was mainly responsible for cleaning up the concept sculpt and laying out final animation topology, working closely with the rigging department. That was a fun challenge fusing all of his various flappy bits to the main head geometry! I also got to take a pass at painting his bioluminescence which I painted in an RGB multimatte channel in Mari, which allowed lighting and comp to have varying degrees of glow to have it feel very organic. The team was spearheaded by Mathieu Aerni while Robert Pasayan handled the body, and Harold Novella took the detail to the finish line. Shout-out to Joe Luchesse's killer design!
